FULL STORY

Operation Purple Camp

The National Military Family Association announced that Copper Cannon Camp has been chosen to host two popular 'Operation Purple' summer camps in 2009.  The Association developed this free summer camp program in response to the need for increased support for military children, especially those whose parents are or will be deployed.

In addition to military theme activities, Copper Cannon Camp will offer a range of traditional summer camp programs.  These may include: trail-hiking in the White Mountains, getting creative with fun projects in arts & crafts, or learning to work as a team on our challenging low & high ropes courses - topped off with a ride on our 220ft zip line!  Campers will also take part in the great Copper Cannon tradition of Bombardment.  The game of kings and the king of games.

Copper Cannon will be hosting two weeks of camp in August:

Operation Purple Bethlehem for 8-13 year olds will run from August 2nd - August 8th

Operation Purple Bethlehem Teen for 12-16 year olds will run from August 9th-August 15th

Each camp is "purple" and is open to children of service members of any branch of Service, active duty, National Guard or reserve, as well as children of members of the Commisioned Corps of the Public Health Service and National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration.

Our Standard Summer Camp Program for New Hampshire children, is free for less fortunate youth ages 9 - 16, whose household income does not exceed financial guidelines. Each week-long session can accommodate 42 children, who enjoy activities such as hiking, sports, arts and crafts, nature studies, swimming, archery, field trips, skits, and conservation projects.
