Facilities and Environment

Location
In the summer of 1976 the present facilities were opened on 128 acres of land made available through the generosity of the Town of Franconia, NH. The Copper Cannon Outdoor Education Center is located a mile off Route 142 on a wooded slope affording views of the White Mountains with Franconia Notch as the focal point.
Buildings
The Summer Camp Program will accommodate a total of 46 children and 17 staff counselors in three "villages" of cabins during each of the eight week-long sessions.
The other buildings include a main lodge with dining hall, a shower and laundry house, an arts and crafts building, a trading post, the nature study lodge, a new recreation lodge, the cook's cabin, and the Director's cabin.
Outdoor Activity Areas
On-site outdoor activity areas include: an athletic field (incorporating softball, soccer, and an archery range), the low-levels ropes course, a basketball half-court, a volleyball court, a campfire area and miles of nature trails. Off-site activities include swimming at Echo Lake in Franconia Notch State Park, hiking the Appalachian Trails, and utilizing what the area has to offer.
