Copper Cannon Summer Staff

2005 Summer Staff
It's not just a job… It's Reality!

The staff at Copper Cannon is a multinational group of individuals who share a common goal: to provide each child with a fun, educational, and truly memorable experience.

The sixteen staff members create an excellent 3:1 ratio of children to counselors. This allows each child to receive plenty of individual attention!

Prior to the first camp session, the staff members gather for a 10-day training program. The training program is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of the operation of Copper Cannon. The training segment includes leadership skills, risk management, behavior management, team building skills, nature studies, problem solving and wilderness camping and cooking skills. In addition, all staff members receive first aid training.

Meet the Director

Dear Parents and Campers,

I am excited about the upcoming summer at Copper Cannon. This will be my second summer as the director of the best summer camp in the world. I will be putting nineteen years of proven camp administration to use, as I am able to see first hand the benefits a quality program provides.

Copper Cannon is a magical place for both the staff and campers. Over the course of a few days, a change occurs. It involves a child growing in self-esteem and self-confidence. They do this as they make new stronger friendships. These friendships will last a lifetime, long after a child returns home from camp.

Copper Cannon is a young person's summer paradise, packed full of opportunities and unparallel fun. We strive to preserve and uphold our traditions while constantly offering new and challenging activities. Because of this, it is difficult for a child to tell you what their best memory of camp is!

As the father of four, I know the importance of having safe, positive role models for my children. I ask my staff to make a commitment to our campers. We take this responsibility very seriously wanting our camper to thrive and grow. Though we may be decked out in polyester clothing or wacky hair, my staff is there for the kids and it shows in everything we do.

This summer my children will experience being campers for the second time! I still feel the anxiety every first time parent experiences. I also know the joy and wonderment that these campers experience after their time at camp and am counting the days until the summer begins.

See you this summer.

Pete

"Copper Cannon is not a person, it is not a place, it is not a time. Copper Cannon is the energy and magic we can create. Whether it is playing unique games with campers, hiking in majestic woods with campers or even dressing in silly clothers to entertain, an aura is created. I found out what a difference I can make in the lives of today's youth. Sometimes I forget it is a job!"

"How do you explain what the summer has been for us? Words, pictures, even videos will not be enough to describe the impact it had on the lives of both the campers and the staff. But when we're together, you can see it in the smiles on our faces. Yes, we are all completely insane by now, but if it brightens the lives of these kids just a little bit, then it was worth it."
